FAQ

What questions do you ask?  We ask about 150 questions in the Lifetime Memory packages, 70 in the engagement, and 110 in the graduation to elicit dates and prompt memories from childhood through adult life.  You'll receive the question booklet several weeks before the interview.  You are encouraged to jot down notes in the booklet and keep it near you during the interview.  If you don't want to answer a question, no problem.  We go over each chapter before we begin the interview.

I feel uncomfortable talking about myself.  We do our best to make you feel at home.  We start out with easy questions and build up into more storytelling opportunities.  Our experience has been that the person being interviewed becomes relaxed and carries on a conversation just like they would with a family member or friend.  If you still feel you can't be recorded, opt for an album instead where you can still answer questions and illustrate with your favorite photos.

Where do we record?  Usually the best place to record is your home where you feel most comfortable.  However, we can also record outside the home at a quiet location.

How long does the interview take?  This will depend on you but we suggest allowing four hours from start to finish.

What should I wear?  Wear what is comfortable.  Solid colors photograph best but are not mandatory.  Plan on being filmed from the waist up.

What photos do I need?  We provide a suggested picture list in the booklet and in the albums; choose those that will help illustrate what is being shared.  For interviews. we will provide sticky notes so you can mark areas in the photo albums from which you have pulled pictures.  We photograph those pictures at the time of the interview and do not remove them from your home. You can provide pictures in jpeg format and email them or burn them to to a CD as an option as well.  If you choose an email or CD option, remember to give a brief title to each picture as the interviewer will not know the people or events that were captured.  Example:  "college friends"  "immediate family"  "Hawaii trip"

What if I want to include more pictures?   You can include more pictures for the video but we won't be able to guarantee that they will fit into the narrated portion of the story but we will certainly do our best. Pictures above the allotted amount may be added for just $4.99 each.

Must I have all the pictures at the time of the interview?  Yes.  Processing time is slowed if pictures are not available at the time of the interview.  A $75 per person charge is processed for photos that are not received at the time or prior to the interview.  We are unable to accept photos after 5 business days post interview.  This allows us to complete the video and get it back to you in a timely manner.

What do you mean by video clips?  We include short video clips of points of interest such as a childhood home, play area, school or church in the Gold products.  This is limited to within a 20 mile radius of video location.

How long does it take before I get the finished DVD?  Please allow 3-4 weeks.

How long does it take before I recieve the album?  Albums are fulfilled by Blurb.com and usually arrive within 2 weeks.  Expedited delivery is available as well.

How far in advance do we need to schedule the interview?  We recommend that you schedule the interview four weeks in advance.  This allows plenty of time to review the booklet and make notes as well as select photos.
